The Henriette Herz Scouting Program, led by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, is your opportunity to advance your research career in collaboration with top academic research facilities in Germany. In cooperation with Professor Christian Beste at Action Lab, the program is looking for exceptional early-career researchers in the research fields of neuroscience and mental health to foster innovation and international collaboration. As a participant, you’ll receive fully funded research stay for up to 24 month, monthly financial support (including family, travel, and health allowances), access to research facilities and networks as well as a membership in the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation’s global alumni network.

The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation grants a monthly research fellowship for a minimum of 6 up to 24 months. Research fellows carry out independent research projects in cooperation with host organizations (Professor Christian Beste, TU Dresden) in Germany. The fellowship includes a monthly payment of EUR 2,700 for postdocs and EUR 3,200 for experienced researchers (associate professor or junior research group leader). In addition, a mobility allowance, an allowance for health and liability insurance, a travel allowance and a start-up grant are paid. Before the start of the fellowship, the foundation offers two- or four-month intensive language courses in Germany (also for accompanying partners). A family allowance is granted for accompanying partners and/or children under the age of 18 if they are staying in Germany for at least 3 months. The following benefits can also be applied for:
Allowance for health and liability insurance for accompanying partners and/or children (age <18y).
Flat-rate allowance for single parents with accompanying children.
Extension of the research fellowship for grantees with accompanying children or in the case of maternity.
There are further support options for research fellows with disabilities or chronic illnesses. It is possible to divide the funding period applied for into up to three partial stays, each with a minimum stay of three months. The research fellowship must generally be completed within 36 months of the start of the fellowship, or within 48 months if extended.
To apply for the research fellowship, you must meet the following requirements:
Research in the field of neuroscience or mental health
Completed doctorate or comparable academic degree (Ph.D., C.Sc., or equivalent) no more than 12 years ago
Above-average publication record correspondent to career status with scientific publications in international peer-reviewed journals
No degree and/or doctorate in Germany
No research stays in Germany after completion of the doctorate
No previous application to the Alexander von Humbold Foundation funding programs nor any previous funding from one of the Foundation's scholarship programs
Persons with German citizenship cannot participate
Good English language skills are necessary
The research fellowship should generally be taken up within 12 months after the award
The application process is straightforward and fast. Motivation letter, written proposal, CV or references are not required.

An initial selection of candidates will be made based on the ORCID publication records. They will be contacted via email.
Selected candidates will be invited to an online interview with the scout Professor Christian Beste, who will nominate fellows consecutivly.
The Alexander von Humbold Foundation will check the requirements and approve the fellowships.
